How to Use Searing Burners On Gas Grill

What is Sear Station?

The sear station is basically three burners that are comparatively very close to each other than other burners, in order to provide a hotter zone in the Grill. The purpose of this hotter zone is to make the cooking process faster and it is really very useful for you if you love very juicy and pink meat from the inside and crust on the outer side.

If you have not tried sear station up till now, give it a try and you would love amazing and delicious food made on it.

Cooking time will be according to the food you are cooking. It may vary from 1 minute to 5 minutes.

Once the searing is done, now you can move your food to another area of the Grill, to let it cook completely. Today I will be trying steaks on my Grill using Sear Burner, so let’s start.

Step#01 – Preparing Ingredients and Tools

First of all, I will be collecting all my ingredients and tools for steak searer.

Ingredients contain:

  • Meat steaks
  • Grill Oil
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Tools required for grilling will include:

  • Temperature Guage
  • Tongs (to turn back steaks)
  • Gas grill with sear station
  • Knife
  • Paper towel
  • Serving plates

Step#02 – Bring Steaks to Room Temperature

Never put frozen steaks on the sear station, if you are going to do it, don’t expect perfect tenderness and superb flavor out of your food. In my case, I have taken out my steaks from the refrigerator and now wait for them to come at room temperature.

Step#03 – Dry your steaks completely

When you take out frozen steaks from the refrigerator and wait for them to come at room temperature, the ice will start melting and the meat will release water, so at this stage dry it with a paper towel otherwise you will be facing issues like

  • At the time of seasoning it with salt, it will do oil splattering and a lot of dripping to get water out of it.
  • It will also take more temperature and more time in cooking as first it will melt the whole meat and then start cooking it.
  • Avoid extra dripping because of frozen or not pat dry meat as it will also cause damage to your grill’s exteriors.

Step#04 – Oil Your Grill Grates

Make sure to oil the grates of your sear station before putting meat on it. Avoid using oil that create too much smoke on heating for example olive oil and butter. You can also apply nonstick coating spray to the burner.

Step#05 – Season Steaks with Salt and Pepper

Rub steaks from both sides with freshly grounded pepper and salt.

Step#06 – Preheat your Grill

Well for any grill you are using. First of all open lid of your grill, turn on the fuel source, and then light the burner of your grill. Remember don’t light up the sear station at this time

Now close the lid and let it preheat for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes it will reach a temperature of 500 to 550 degrees Fahrenheit. Now open the grill, close the outer burner and light up the sear station, and put your meat on it. And, once again shut the cover and let it cook now.

Step#07 – How Long to Sear Steaks

Sear Steaks for 2 to 3 minutes on each side to get them completely seared with perfect grill marks on them. After that reduce the temperature of the Grill according to your doneness choice. Below we have mentioned the instructions.

We cannot tell you the limited cooking timings of meat without knowing the thickness of your steaks or your chops, as the timings of cooking may vary with the thickness of a piece of meat. Here I am mentioning some guidelines for the meat of different thicknesses.

Cooking Guidelines for Indirect Heat
