Cooking Steak on George Foreman – My Tricks for Grilling Steaks

1- Cut of Meat

Grilling a perfect steak involves a few key elements: Start with a good cut of meat: Look for steak cuts with good marbling, as this will help the steak stay juicy and flavorful during the grilling process. Some good options include ribeye, strip steak, or filet mignon.

2- Defrost Your Steaks First

Whenever you are planning to make steaks, keep them out of the fridge at least an hour before grilling. I usually do the same and keep my steaks in room temperature water, and after 30 minutes, I change the water. When I check my steaks after 60 minutes, it is completely defrosted. You cannot get the perfect steaks with frozen meat.

3- Thickness of Steak

The thickness of steaks also matters a lot in their final flavor and taste. You should not use steaks thicker than 1 inch. ¾ inches steak size is perfect for smokeless indoor grills, but still, if you have a thicker piece. You can easily slice it with a steak knife.

4- Pat Dry Your Steaks

It doesn’t seem a very important point, but believe me, it is a game-changer step. Always pat dry your meat before placing it on the grill. Usually, meat has some blood in it. Pat dry it with a paper towel and make it clean. And you will get good contact on the grill with meat that will make a crispy outer layer.

5- Cooking Temperature

The secret of perfect steak is balance in its internal and external temperature, which makes it tender and juicy. Internal temperature should be low making it tender from the inside and high external temperature will help give it amazing flavor and beautiful brown color.

6- Cooking Oil

What I observe doing BBQ for years, is when you use olive oil, it creates little smoke as its smoking point is low nearly 300 degrees Fahrenheit. So in case you are cooking indoors, try to avoid olive oil. Its better replacement is avocado oil and soybean oil with a smoke temperature above 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

7- Myth about Flipping Steaks

You must have heard that you should not flip steaks otherwise they won’t get cooked nicely. Let me tell you there is no problem in flipping steaks. You can flip it often. Moreover, it will help you in even cooking.
